it’s an endemic tree from the central/south zone of chile and argentina. globose cup, dark foliage, able to reach an altitude above 20 meters high. it is generally found in humid zones such as chiloé island, being part of the “valdiviano” forest, and of the magellanic forests in the pacific coast.
Maximum size: 30 meters.

May – June.
White, female flowers and male in different individuals.
Directly exposed to the sun, without any protection, in plane zones or hillsides of north exposition or with little shadow. With sun protection by thin vegetation, rocks, etc.
It tolerates low temperatures until -8°C.
From areas with constant precipitation, with short dry periods that last for no more than a month, to secano areas, where dry periods without precipitation last from 3-5 months, and rain reaches 400-800 mm during the year, concentrating in winter.
Resists saline soils.
