It is a small endemic tree that grows in rivers and estuaries from the IV to the X region. It always grows in very humid areas. It is highly valued for its beautiful evergreen foliage and its very aromatic flowers. In addition, it produces a nectar that can be used for beekeeping.

Some shade with some protection from the sun by sparse vegetation, rocks, etc. To shade on steep south-facing slopes, or deep ravines. With protection by dense layer of vegetation under large trees.
Resists occasional, not prolonged frosts down to about -5°c.
Areas with constant rainfall, short dry periods are possible but do not last more than 1 month
