This vigorous growing plant is an evergreen bush native to the American continent. This species comes from southern Chile and part of Argentina. Long flowering in early summer. It is drought resistant and tolerates all types of soils, except calcareous soils.

To full sun, without any protection. Flat parts or slopes with northern exposure. or some shade with some protection from the sun by sparse vegetation, rocks, etc.
It resists temperatures down to -15°c (even -20°c). It can be covered for months (1 to 8) by snow.
Areas with constant rainfall, short dry periods are possible but do not last more than 1 month.
Fertile soils, neutral pH.
